At the end of the year
In a busy time
I was lost in thought

Cold before the storm -
a January blizzard
makes its presence known
We're projected to get between 12 -16 inches of snow tomorrow into Monday here in Western Massachusetts USA and the temperature this morning (as I walked the dog) was 1 degree F with dangerous wind chill coming. I guess we're in Winter. The prompt word this morning - Blizzard - was perfectly aligned with what's coming our way.
Tracking a deer path
through the forested mountain,
we duck our heads down
Small songbirds, singing,
flitting among the branches,
dancing to the wind
There is a quiet
descending down among us
who pause and wonder
A willow of smoke
snakes its way skyward through trees:
