@jsit @universalhub Could it be the same person who had the bright idea, some years ago now, of improving Back Bay Station's lovely brick walls by some of the platforms, by painting them commuter-rail purple (that looks hideous in the light down there)?
Its ugly but better than the Baker era "oh you want a broken thing fixed lets remove it."

I bet they somehow thought the black would make it look less old, but it doesn't
