Pixel logos I created in the early 1990s, using Deluxe Paint ("DPaint") on an Amiga. Back then, cassette tapes, diskettes and CD(-ROM)s were still hot storage media. 😃

Ok, I’m going in. Another present I just haven’t had time to explore yet. Now things have calmed down I’ll be putting this in the office and getting stuck in to projects very soon. #C64U #C64 #commodore #xp

There it is: The new C64 Ultimate. I'm pretty impressed by the build quality, everything feels solid and like a premium thingy, even has a nice weight to it. Much attention was put into details. What I don't like is that you can't swap disks via a shortcut or button press, but have to go into the menu every time. When watching demos, that really is a bit annoying. Especially since the 1541U carts with a real C64 can do it better. So ... that's a pity. But other than that: loads from tape just fine, runs everything C64 related I threw at it, has stereo SID support and if I wanted, I could add two real SIDs just for fun. Might do that at some point. And when I say "hands-on," I mean putting the thing through the wringer. You want to tell me it's "99% compatible" with existing hardware? Okay, let's try it...

👾 Commodore International Says Commodore Industries Trademarks Are "Invalid"
「 The new Commodore International came into being in July of this year, when a team led by YouTuber Christian "Peri Fractic" Simpson purchased Commodore Corporation B.V. and "100% of the original and official trademarks that defined the Commodore name since 1983." 」
And... yeah, it works. The only thing that gave it even the slightest pause was the Sound Expander, and only because I had to manually disable the internal virtual "cartridge" to route the signals properly - a quick flip in the settings menu, no more than that.

It's a rainy Monday here in Bradford, but a happy one - despite the fact I was working all weekend.
Why? Because I was working on something fun: going hands-on with the #Commodore 64 Ultimate, an FPGA-powered recreation of the world's best-selling home computer.
New video! I got my hands on a rare Amiga 3000T and am starting the restoration process.

Any #CommanderX16 peeps on fedi?
I'm still glad I ordered my #C64U, but I think I'd like to play with an #X16 a little later (perhaps when the second or even third generation hardware is finalized), as it seems like it might be a little more hacker-friendly, having an assembly monitor baked in, as well as a non-line-numbered editor and BASIC converter.
Hopefully both communities will cooperate and there will be similar hacks and tools for the C64U.
