Loops now federates with the Fediverse, there are several Loops servers and Loops accounts can be followed from Mastodon etc (e.g. @dansup).
That's cool I guess. Apparently people are into this stuff. I'll never understand what there is to gain from such short videos. They're over before they start. They're more like long gifs with audio. lol
GNUsocial, Mastodon, and the others already allow multimedia attachments so, this seems redundant to me and more of a limitation to be focused solely on TV commercial length videos.
@FediTips Several loops servers? So far, I've only seen the flagship one and vido.social. Is there a list already?

Yup, that's the idea of the Fediverse, everyone uses the platform that suits them best but they can still follow and interact with each other even if they're on different platforms.
The good thing about the Fediverse is you don't have to use platforms but you can still follow and interact with people who do use those platforms 🙂
So, people who like Mastodon can use Mastodon, people who like Loops can use Loops, and they can all follow each other despite being on different platforms.

Also, people on Mastodon and Loops can follow each other and interact with each other, so there's no need to switch platforms unless you really want to.

You only need a Loops account if'n you want to make videos, any account will work to watch them
Also you can follow and interact with Loops accounts from Mastodon etc, you don't need to be on Loops if you don't want to.

In supporting fediverse concepts that leave the most critical part on third party systems anyhow. Look forward to when that’s sorted so I can support more decentralised stuff.
