A minor #KDE annoyance I don't know how to fix (other than diving into the source and compiling my own build of KDE which I don't want to do just for this)

Every time I press Alt+F2 then quickly type "kwrite<Enter>", I end up opening "KWin Scripts" instead, because the bar's autocomplete always matches that other app first, and takes an extra half-second to switch to KWrite.

@hisham_hm I'm surprised KDE doesn't have a debounce setting considering how many settings it already has.

@fabio update: KDE _does_ have a setting to work around the issue 鉂わ笍鈿欙笍馃惒https://mastodon.social/@hisham_hm/115979885287752232

@hisham_hm Confirmed. Here it is kasts. Brief pause before hitting enter required.

@hisham_hm I always end up opening libreoffice calc instead of kcalc. Though that's more of my fault for typing "calc" instead of "kcalc", but I wish #KDE were smarter about this and organised entries by recency

Hm, I switched off auto-suggestions and most of the plugins in Plasma Search, so my KRunner actions are less prone to provide an incorrect option first.

I don't have a KWrite, so I wasn't able to reproduce original case, but I hope there is a way to optimize for it too (without the code modification, I mean), by the means of preferences only?

@gemelen @haskman Yay, thank you!

I went to Plasma Search settings (which I didn't even know was a thing) and disabled the "System Settings" checkbox (which provided "KWin Scripts"), so now "KWrite" is the top result when I type "kwrite<Enter>" quickly.

Of course I'd like it best if the autocomplete was more responsive so I wouldn't have to do this, but that _did_ solve my immediate problem! Thank you!

@hisham_hm

Awesome, glad it helped a bit!

BTW, didn't recognize your nickname at first 馃槉
Using this opportunity, thanks a lot for all the tools you created.
