It is *quite* funny to me that people are at all shocked or surprised about ads being rolled out on Threads or Netflix or whatever. It's only going one way. Increased profit for the shareholders. Noone is rolling back on commercial advertising. There'll be adverts in your soup next. Your sink. Your toilet. Hello I am your toilet roll and I have some great news about deals *muffled noises* for you!

I saw a photo of a Chinese public toilet loo roll holder. The holder had a QR code on it with a message to scan for an advert before it'd dish out paper. Lots of people may be carrying loo rolls around with them in the future!

I think the only way most of us will afford to live is to rent out our bodies/minds for advertising, possibly wearing clothing which works as a billboard or maybe a watch type device which monitors if we've worn & watched ads for x hours minimum daily, or given personal recommendations. 😐 Like those sites where people are scammed into doing surveys and uploading receipts, giving away their personal info and getting almost nothing in return.

@TheBreadmonkey yep. Samsung already has 'smart' appliances that stream ads. Ford has patented equipment to stream ads to the infotainment ' system in their cars. Talk about enshitification!
