I think 🇨🇦 MP Mark Carney may be the first Western leader willing to look the monster straight in the eye.
If you want to move forward, you must first look back, understand where you came from, and where you no longer want to be.
And if you think that monster is the U.S., you’re mistaken: take off the Western lens and you’ll see what many outside the West already know…. the monster is us.
@wlaatje I just try to imagine Poilievre instead, and practically fold up from cringe and chills. He'd be negotiating how much to sell Baffin Island for.
@wesdym Speaking of selling islands… the last time the Danes sold an island to the Americans (Little St. James, in 1917), it ended with an owner who….according to widely reported accounts…took his own life in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges.
By then, the island was infamous and better know as “Epstein Island,” and a sitting president lost a significant part of his support over the affair.
But still, I don’t really believe in jinxes, visions, or karma 😜

Don't abandon the values of international law. Apply them consistently and effectively. That means pointing the finger at anyone, including the US, that violates them. There have been many in the US who have been saying this for decades.
