I was thinking today, and @pluralistic corroborated it, about how the UK's liberal/leftist part has been called "Labour" for many decades. The idea is that workers--dare I say it *socialism*--is the core principle. The same used to be true of Canada's New Democratic Party, although without the explicit name.

@pluralistic @waitworry Yeah, I've thought for a while that the most likely avenue of success in America is a leftist/socialist takeover of the Democrats, an inverse of the Tea Party (but *not*, as you say, swivel-eyed loons). That's also a dangerous path because by definition you're relying on the structures that the Democrats put in place, and those structures are corrupt as hell. But we're also good anarchists, here: we use what's available. :)
