The politicians who campaign for being allowed to deport people to torture and to be killed are the politicians your should be absolutely terrified of, because it seems extremely likely their promoting acceptance for torture of others elsewhere also means they not only would accept but also would like to do that where they rule, against you.

Don't forget: Torture has absolutely no positive value, from any aspect, not even if one would be so despicable as to accept discarding all of morality in exchange for the outcome of the torture, because the outcome of torture is the tortured potentially being coerced into telling the torturer whatever the tortured believes the torturer wants to hear in order to end the torture, the truth of which is irrelevant, so the output of torture can never ever be trusted. We learned this sometime around two centuries ago yet the myth persists being propagated by people who actually just like inflicting suffering on humans they dehumanize. Suffering for its own sake, for their pleasure.
TV-series, movies, etc use torture as a neat tool to further their desired storyline of "ooh, the dilemma, but the hero chose the lesser evil of torturing to save [something]", but that is not reality and has nothing to do with how it works, or rather doesn't work in real reality.
