put a bench ive had for a while on the curb yesterday as a sort of grab it for free thing and the landlord put a piece of paper under my door today that says "please don't put stuff on the sidewalk, the building could get fined for it" like ?

like that's normal behavior to put free furniture on the sidewalk. i feel. everybody does it?
