It irks me when reading is presented as the ultimate and only real and valid tool for imagination and intelligence. It leaves anyone born less privileged, or in any way less compatible with the written word, convinced they'll never catch up and thus thoroughly excluded.
Imagination is a very, very broad concept, every source stimulates it differently, it's highly subjective, and crucially, it is all equally valid.
