the NTP foundation (yeah the time thing) is begging for scraps of cash, like a few thousand dollars - a low level manager at amazon, google, apple and meta could each whip out the corp credit card, give them $5k each and problem solved, but no, they're too far up their own arse to do that

@decryption NTF is willing to help you register smaller company supported donations as the company rather than as individuals. This may make it easier to convince one's employer to sponsor the donation.
They unfortunately bury the donor list.

Meanwhile, NTP allows google to track our devices even when we got rid of every gApps and other services... it probably is the most pervasive tracking method. Yet the underlying protocol still has to beg for 11k$? Wtf. Fuck off google

Daniel seems to make a go of it doing bespoke paid tech support and customization work, but i wonder how many big IoT/embed device makers would need custom NTP work done.
