man anxiously, desperately trying to sell snake oil insists that the people who refuse to drink snake oil are the real weirdos https://www.businessinsider.com/github-ceo-developers-embrace-ai-or-get-out-2025-8

Fuck, now I'm gonna get forced out of retirement in a few years because I'm one of the generation of programmers who actually knows how to code!
1) «Get out» but keep practicing coding
2) Watch the vibe-coding chaos from the outside
3) Get hired by desperate companies to fix the messes made
4) Profit!
I’ll use it like I use Lombok…as a tool.
That's just stupid, so many devs are more likely to remove all their work from github and just leave then comply with this.
I've worked my entire adult life: over 15000 days straight without unemployment. In all those days I've always been a doer, not a director - even when the job was being a director. I'm very hands on. I still don't know what it is about those who cannot do anything that gets them all on the same wagon shouting, "This will revolutionize the thing I could never do and really don't understand!" The best explanation I've heard for this type of mob mentality is, "They don't know what they don't know."
Well, given the clear choice, out sounds good to me!
Long lost are the days of adoption strategies and adoption incentives. After they fired all the marketing and go to market strategists, the only brain cell remaining was the "my way or the highway" one!?
Bye bye GitHub, it's been real.
All said.
AI fanatics are like Jim Jones cultists; willing to murder to get their way.

AI data centers are thwarting an urgently necessary fossil fuel phase out. A billion will die of famine if we don't act on democracy, climate, & regulate energy hogs like AI.

“Assimilate or Be Assimilated, Resistance is futile.”
Eerie & depressing that it’s come to this. And a vast majority of developers who know better still remain locked in.
Drink the snake oil until we no longer need you.
I have an org on GitHub intended to host tools to help people leave.

I am a member of a group on GitLab intended for the same:

I'd love to reduce the tight integration of RubyGems with GitHub, but it seems to be going in the opposite direction:

* People who told you knowing all the codes, in all the languages, and writing them really, really fast was the only way to get along in the industry
* People now telling you knowing actual code is for losers
