@lauren Polygraphs measure stress, not truth. Someone who lies as easily and constantly as Trump does might have no problem passing.
@lauren Polygraphs only "work" by responding to the subject's stress level, and Trump lies as unconsciously as he breathes. Because they've been mis-sold as "lie detectors" rather than stress monitors, onlookers would take it as confirmation that he's telling the truth.
@cstross I had thought about adding a comment to something of that effect (e.g., he doesn't know he's lying), but decided that given his increasing agitation levels he could still be nabbed on some.
