Holy shit. Coles is contracting Palantir, yes that Palantir, to "optimise their workforce" https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-02-09/coles-just-hired-us-defence-contractor-palantir/103443504

@Joshsharp this article from November shows the Palantir/Coles deal is still going strong. It doesn't reveal anything other than gushing corporate-speak though.

@Joshsharp that's fucking fucked.
@Joshsharp Palantir’s history with surveillance and controversial government contracts suggests a deeper issue. Are we comfortable with our shopping habits being analyzed by a firm known for aiding in deportations and policing?
This move isn’t just about data; it’s about trust. Coles is integrating Palantir’s AI to optimize its workforce and operations, but at what cost to employee privacy and consumer transparency?

@Joshsharp yea now a year later, what ever happened to that one?! 👀
@Joshsharp hmm 😔. I remember reading that article. It's not a good look, nor will it be a positive experience for those at the bottom.
@Joshsharp
Why does it take half the article for the ABC to offer up the obvious parts of who Palantir are?
@Joshsharp yup that's a boycott. My local is a Coles but only a 4km walk to the aldi / Woolworths. Anyone who cares about Coles giving business to Palantir should make sure they boycott all Coles businesses
@Joshsharp that’s.,,,,bad. So let me get this straight. The company has never been more exposed as a monstrous cancer on society than right now and Cole’s thought ‘yep we better lock that shit in’ despicable but not at all surprising.
