A Bald eagle photographed today on the coast of Vancouver Island. I looked for 'active' nests but found only old ones. It looks like they are not fixing old ones or building new ones yet. However they were lots of mature eagles and they were vocal. Mating is about to start.

A male long-tailed duck in its elegant winter outfit. It has three different plumages during the year.

Be like a sea lion: eat, bark, belch, cause ruckus, sleep, repeat. 😆

Photo taken last March during the herring spawn. These sea lions overindulged on herring and were drifting in the sea.

I went scouting for wildlife along the east coast of Vancouver Island today for my upcoming photo tours during the herring spawn.

Steller sea lions are starting to show up, I observed them catching fish near the shore.

Bald eagles are back too, calling each other from tree tops. Soon they'll start to build a nest. Took this photo this morning.

Hudsonian Whimbrel on the shore of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. It was bathing in the sea and came to shore to preen. It hangs out with a flock of black oystercatchers.
