Carbon dioxide removal requires careful site selection to avoid harm to #biodiversity, a new study shows. At the same time, the researchers find that the cooling effects of #CDR can benefit biodiversity.
The analysis shows that in ambitious emissions-reduction scenarios, where global warming temporarily overshoots 1.5°C before returning to it by 2100, up to 13 percent of land allocated to #CDR could overlap with areas of high biodiversity value.
