Lab practices at the drug testing company Averhealth have been faulted by its own accreditor, and the company has been targeted in lawsuits and dropped by two child welfare agencies, a ProPublica investigation found.

Averhealth has defended the accuracy of its testing, citing an independent review by outside scientists and its continued accreditation. “Averhealth provides accurate and forensically defensible test results,” CEO Dominique Delagnes said.
