I got the book just at the tail end of last year. While I knew some of the subject matter, this covers so much more. It's a really good read and why wouldn't you support an author on the Fediverse?

We talk a lot about tracking and Digital Footprints, which is all about recording our past and predicting our present.
The Digital Poppet is the active threat that stems from this data collection: that our data is used to construct tools (poppets) that are used to influence us and control our behaviour in the future, influencing how we vote, our view of the world and how we feel.

Use containerization for improved web privacy and security. Containers isolate processes in the browser, making it more difficult for one web site to spy on your activities with another web site.

Alonso was collected by his owners and is spending a night at "home".
He had been here since dawn on Monday - four nights in a row (a new record).
His owners did collect him on Tuesday evening, but Alonso convinced them, on arriving home that he needed a pee, and immediately escaped back here.
