Poland’s President Karol Navrocki vetoed the act implementig the Digital Services Act. Poland is among the last EU member states to implement the #DSA. After two years of negotiations between the government and civil actors the implementing act was ready. President’s veto means that the process has to be started afresh.

In just days, its produced 3M+ non-consensual sexualised images of women &minors, turning X into an infrastructure for AI-enabled sexual abuse. Elon Musk & his company have treated the harm like a game, putting profits over people.

We welcome the EC decision: strong safeguards, independent verification, dissuasive fines, and bold EU enforcement are non-negotiable.

It is immensely disappointing that the European Parliament manages to defend and support former Commissioner #ThierryBreton, a wealthy, privileged old man who's addressbook is full of powerful friends.

While it not even mentions in passing (let alone defends) the cash-strapped #CivilSociety organisations @hateaid and #CCDH who have been attacked by #Trump in exactly the same way but with zero government support.

The #DSA also includes provisions to strengthen #FreedomOfSpeech:

Firstly, citizens can legally contest moderation decisions and get them overturned (something that was impossible before).

Of the 10000 cases in the first year, 7500 were successfully overturned.

First question: What is the #DSA? It's a law that covers how big platforms deal with scams, spam, death threats, and more controversial things such as hate speech and online bullying.

It also requires the platforms to be transparent about moderation decisions & requests.
