Random question for the fediverse... Have a relative with a SimpliSafe system (old), just door sensors and an alarm. Might need a refresh. Thoughts on open/non subscription replacements? General thoughts? (aside from the fact that security companies seem to prey on little old ladies... when all they do is call the cops if an alarm goes off. 🤨 ) Main requirement is detecting if a door opens and sounding an alarm if nobody hits a keypad or remote. (ie scare the opportunistic burglar sort of thing) #random

Also, "Mexican food" which is this menu... must include shredded iceberg lettuce. I think there is a rubber-stamp "ethnic" food genre (Chinese, Mexican, Italian, Indian) which gets replicated across every large and small town due to 1950's and 1960's Americans tiptoeing into "ethnic" food, and only later (or never) do you get more authentic, non-American versioned restaurants... 🤔 #random #food

Violin, anonymous, c. 1705 - c. 1710
This tin-glazed earthenware violin cannot be played, for it is a decorative object. When the collector John Loudon purchased it for a record 1500 guilders in 1876, this violin was considered to be the absolute masterpiece of Delft earthenware. The modelling and painted decoration
certainly make it an exceptional object.
