This photo of yesterday’s sunrise pairs well with the one from Sunday (thread). I’m also slipping this in for #ThickTrunkTuesday. The sycamore on the left and the river birch on the right have grown A LOT in the 32 years since I planted them.

Oh #thicktrunkTuesday might be a good day for this photo that I took on a recent hike.

It's one of my usual hikes but clouds or fog always make it so special as the usual background is gone and I see the motives in a complete different way.

And believe it or not - I went this path over 10 times but I've never seen that tree the way like at that day.

A banyan tree in Sarasota, FL. More roots than trunk, I suppose.

A large, multi-trunked banyan tree with smooth bark and a huge mass of above-ground roots which looks just a little like a nest of large snakes sits proudly in the Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, FL. This was 2009.

The roots when leaving the trunk are tall, rounded yet not very thick, but are almost 18" high. As they snake away from the trunk they get lower and lower then either branching into a more typical root-like structure or disappearing below ground.

They had several of these trees.
