@kyleford I'm pretty sure this is what @pluralistic was talking about when he used the term Reverse Centaur. Now I'm picturing a world where people accomplish random inscrutable tasks in the real world dictated by AI slop bots and they have no way of knowing what they just did. Isn't this part of the plot of the Severance TV show? Please, don't create the Torment Nexus

This is the most dystopian thing I've seen all week, and I'm living in 2026 America so that's *saying something*

I get email.
Why did you write that book "Do Not Build The Torment Nexus?
Now nobody wants to use my #tormentnexus !
How you can make the most of the #TormentNexus
The time traveller closed the book and stared blankly ahead.
"So," said the author, "was that what-"
"No! That wasn't at all- It's a warning!"
"Allegorical, but y-"
"It's not you I need to kill, it's the person who read this and still wanted to build the Torment Nexus!"
"Kill?"
"I must go!"

I propose the SEAPAP: Simple Email AI Prompt Articulation Protocol. It details how to send a prompt from one email client to another such that the receiver can construct an email.
This makes for a very efficient means of transfer of intent, but like MIDI before it for sound, the final results will depend on the fidelity of the model installed on the receiver.
Most will rely on rendering, but some will simply read the "MIDI" itself and do their own thing.
I dearly wish rather than people putting prompts in the slop generator to make far longer and pretty looking slop, they just sent the prompt itself.
Just send me "write a memo that says all employees need to fill out their expense reports by Tuesday, remember there's a federal holiday later this month, and good work on Project Phi."
A social media app where you’re the only human and you’re flattered by several AI bots?
Doesn’t give torment nexus vibes at all.

“Your soul will not remain intact while you’re building software that keeps track of undocumented workers. Your soul will not remain intact while building surveillance software whose footage companies hand over to ICE. Your soul will not remain intact while you build software that allows disinformation to spark genocides. Your soul will not remain intact while you hoover up artists’ work to train theft-engines that poison the water of communities in need.”
- Mike Monteiro’s slightly sarcastic take on people developing software from hell
