This update includes today's latest daily build with 107 new commits from upstream since alpha.2 (2026-01-11).
What's new in Mastodon core - These are the changes Mastodon Team have introduced us in the latest nightly version we are running:

- Updated lodash to v4.17.23 (security fix)
- Multiple security patches merged from upstream
✨ New Features
- Collections: "My collections" page, featured collections, collection endpoints
- Profile redesign (in Mastodon core theme only): verified badges, account name tyling, profile fields redesign
- New UI components: Callout, Toggle, MiniCard, form fields
🎨 Theming system
- New file-based theme system with data-color scheme and data-contrast attributes
- High-contrast styles added to common stylesheet
- Updated embedded styling and error pages for new theme infrastructure

@jmts mä luulen että suurimmat syyt on nykyisen instanssin ongelmat (admin päättäny sulkea, tai lopettanut moderoimisen/päivittämisen) tai sit siirrytään isoilta omanlaisille kun on oltu tarpeeks kauan fedissä että ymmärretään mitä se tarkoittaa.
@aqunt @jmts Meille vaihtaa väkeä muilta instansseilta seuraavista syistä:
1. Merkkirajoitus. Moni haluaa kirjoittaa yli 500 merkkiä, meillä on 10000.
2. Teemat ja lisäominaisuudet, meillä on esimerkiksi näkövammaisille tehty saavutettava teema, lumisadetta joulun aikaan ja kaikkea muuta kivaa mitä keksitään: https://help.mementomori.social/mementomori.social/instance-features - Lisäksi käytössä tietysti uusimmat ja tulevat viralliset Mastodon-ominaisuudet kuukausia ennen muita, koska haluamme kokeilla ja testata niitä, se on meillä vähän kuin "talon tapa".
3. Vanhan instanssin ylläpidosta ei kuule, eikä päivityksiä Mastodoniin tule - meillä ylläpitäjät ovat näkyvillä ja käytämme uusinta kehitysversiota.
Sitten tietysti iso osa tulee suositusten kautta, kun kaverit ovat täällä, on helppo liittyä.

We've reverted the visibility selection modal back to a dropdown, like it used to be. The modal required six clicks and was a disaster in terms of accessibility and usability.
I've submitted a pull request to the Mastodon core: Revert post privacy selection from modal to dropdown and add a separate quote policy dropdown. https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pull/37346
