UPDATE: mullvad VPN seems very, very, very accessible on Windows as well. Going to read guides soon. Changed VPN as well: deleted NordVPN, joined Mullvad. I love the philosophy of that service: you pay what you use without giving too many personal data; nord vpn took my underwear as well if I let it go. And accessibility wasn't good on PC. Now I'll see if Mullvad is accessible via desktop but on my phone it works good. Very good. #accessibility #alternatives #blind #software #vpn

I really love to see #Sylve in #FreeBSD allowing us to define CPU pinning with #bhyve! That's a missing piece in other "major" solutions... Well done!

#Firefox #Mozilla #IAGen #GenAI #alternatives ⤵️
Your anarchist auntie needs to give into the loquaciousness.
We have reached a point in capitalism where the overlords have ✌🏾"figured out"✌🏾 that they don't need you anymore, but they need you to keep buying into the system.
And people need to start thinking about what that means and what it looks like in practicality.

Canada’s Big Banks are a ‘culprit’ driving housing prices out of control
Mortgage debt in Canada has ballooned to more than $2 trillion. According to a new study, the banks are largely to blame

I am, alas, by training a value theorist.
Value Theory is the branch of philosophy that is an umbrella covering Economics and Ethics.
Pretty much we are a tiny bit LESS popular than Moral Philosophers.
First:
Everything I say below this point does not apply to people living at subsistence levels. You're already out of the system, you just don't know it yet.
Or more likely: you do.
=======
I see a headline like this one and my brain goes off in five different directions. But I think the most important one is for us to start consciously appreciating how we participate in the system, because every purchase, every hour spent working, every item coveted for anything other than its utility or beauty, is propping up this society.
So the first question is, what can you do to reduce your participation by 10%?
And the second question is how fragile do you think the system is? How many people withdrawing 10% of their energy and attention will cause a dent?
Most people think the system is robust: It's something that you can't fix or alter. I maintain that it is a lot more fragile than people are allowed to consider.
And I say "allowed to consider" because the point is to keep people too distracted and too busy to mull any of this over.
We're supposedly in the age of disruption.
But the disruptions are entirely superficial.
The disruptions are designed to leave everything the same, except funnel the money into somebody else's pocket.
But what if we actually disrupted shit?
What if we took a step toward not requiring currency, AND not requiring a digital version instead.
But that's another conversation for another day.
For now let's leave it at 10% less participation in this immensely problematic system.

EDIT: The Malwarebytes article has been updated:
"After taking a closer look at Google’s documentation and reviewing other reporting, that doesn’t appear to be the case."
This confusion could've been easily avoided if Google was more clear in how they communicate with their users.
ORIGINAL:
PSA to anyone who uses Gmail!
"Reportedly, Google has recently started automatically opting users in to allow Gmail to access all private messages and attachments for training its AI models. This means your emails could be analyzed to improve Google’s AI assistants, like Smart Compose or AI-generated replies. Unless you decide to take action."
@stefan
You only have yourself to blame when you used to using Gmail because there are, as always, many other alternatives to that.
If you don't give a shit about the things you use, instead of showing at least just a little bit of interest in it about the how and why something works, it's your fault getting screwed by a greedy company who uses you.
