Found my first issue with Meshcore
Max number of nodes that Meshcore firmware can remember is 350.
There are 650 repeaters and nodes now locally. You can individually clear them from the list, but I am finding someone else here locally I can see with public posts, but can't message directly because they aren't able to squeeze in on the list before more are discovered and fill the node list.
Weird idea. Use old-school Teletext (or Bildschirmtext) encoding to distribute local infos via a channel on #Meshcore or #Meshtastic. Wouldn't that be fun? But also useful? :)

The MeshCore network is growing fast. This is why recently Regions have been introduced, a kind of „filter“ for messages.
I’m happy to see that ISO 3166-2 seem to be the way to go, as I suggested in a previous post.
So I will set up the following Regions (skipping hash sign here)

After playing with this for a few days, I'm running into a weird usability issue, that's actually very much a "nice problem to have".
My radio can only store 350 contacts (other nodes on the network). Once that's full, new nodes are no longer shown.
That means I can't add them as favorites, or even message them.
The upside of course is that I can reach over 350 nodes, covering half the country.
And a fix is on the way: https://github.com/meshcore-dev/MeshCore/pull/1379
Experimenting with #LoRa and #MeshCore. This tiny little box (which is mostly empty) and a 20 cm antenna lets you connect to a whole network of nodes.
The first one that showed up in the app's client list was located 50 km away. Wasn't expecting that kind of reach. Apparently it took 9 "hops" (other devices rebroadcasting messages) for us to connect.
Fascinating stuff.

I have switched the repeater on my balcony in Munich from #meshtastic to #Meshcore and after 1 hour I already see nodes and repeaters in Zürich, Switzerland and many other places. Impressive. My repeater, a Heltec T114 with a decent antenna, named DE81827_01 is solar powered and has a 2200 mAh battery so it should JustWork™️ at all times 😊 Oh. And use the „EU/UK narrow“ radio settings as that is the popular default, but not the default after installing the firmware. Why? Dunno.

I am buying my first LoRa device.
Following the insightful buying guide by LocalMesh Netherlands, I am thinking I will go for LYLYGO T-Echo Plus. I would like to buy it from the official website, where it costs ~54€.

Connect to existing communities and organizations - churches, mutual aid groups, activist groups. Follow networks of trust. Who have you seen showing up before? Who acts in ways you admire?
There are so many ways to help if you find the right groups to plug in with. Some examples from my neighborhood:
- going on neighborhood strolls in at risk areas
- food, diaper, etc distribution
- grabbing food or drink at a restsurants suffering because they serve immigrant clientele who can't come out
@shauna Communication is also very important.
Literally everyone should be mass-ordering SEEED Studio T1000-E, installing #meshtastic, and the more tech savvy should be putting solar nodes (SEEED and RAKwirelesa prebuilt solar nodes) as high as possible with that or #meshcore.
With an app you can communicate to aid groups and coordinate without internet or SMS
When Iran cut off the internet a week ago, >5000 civilians were murdered by government forces with no information getting out.
Do I know anyone who's into #LoRa #meshNetworks? #meshCore #meshtastic etc? Just found out about these today and am already hooked and planning to build/expand the local networks (north of Toronto etc).
