This appeared right in the middle of my work laptops lock screen this lunch.
This is the first time I've seen anything except a link to the "picture of the day" image.
Get fucked #microslop
🚧 Microsoft just issued a second emergency OS update for Windows 11 this month
「 This time around, the out of band update is addressing an issue that caused Outlook and "cloud-backed" applications such as OneDrive and Dropbox to be rendered inoperable after Patch Tuesday. The temporary workaround was to uninstall the latest security updates, but now the KB5078127 update for version 24H2 and 25H2 should mitigate this need 」

"Microsoft has received a limited number of reports of an issue in which devices are failing to boot with stop code 'UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME', after installing the January 2026 Windows security update (the Originating KBs listed above), released January 13, 2026, and later updates,"

The Litany against #Microslop
I must not use #Win11 / #Windows11
#Win11 is the printer driver-killer.
Win11 is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face Win11.
I will permit it to pass over and through my Hard Disks.
And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the Win11 has gone there will be nothing. Only Linux will remain.
In 2009, Microsoft made it a focus of the Windows 7 user experience guidelines to reduce pointless notifications. They point out notifications like the classic “There are unused icons on your desktop” as being in the Windows 😜 Hall of Shame™. Seriously, it’s in there: https://learn.microsoft.com/windows/win32/uxguide/mess-notif
In 2026, Windows interrupts you to ask if you want to clean up printers you haven’t used in a while. The intent is unclear (which printers?), there are too many choices, and it stays visible until you click an option.
For a good while, Microsoft were limping their way to good UX, and this doc was finally a clear set of guidelines. Now, it feels like they’ve slipped back into the Windows 😜 Hall of Shame™ era, and any good UX they happen to come up with is an accident.

Grazie, #Microsoft.
