Was ich im Artikel jetzt nicht gesehen habe: Man kann nicht nur Accounts, sondern auch Hashtags folgen! (Hilfreich, eben weil es keinen Algorithmus gibt.)
Und wie ich kürzlich lernte, ist es Screenreader-freundlicher, wenn man die Hashtags statt in den Fließtext unten drunter setzt.

Hashtags are the best. People have been talking about The Forkiverse for a couple of days as if everyone knows what it is.
Someone used the #Forkiverse hashtag so I clicked on it and ended up in an ocean of toots about it where I finally learned that it's a Fediverse instance made by some podcasters, and the instance gained traction from the podcast.

Six month ago today (17 July '25) I soft-launched #TagPush onto the fediverse. It's an idea I had smouldering in my head for a month or two. I saw two problems with #Hashtags on the Fediverse:

• You can only find/follow hashtags, and posts of those tags, based on what your own server knows. If someone on another server posts with the tag, but your server doesn't get a copy, you will not see it.

• Small servers suffer more due to lack of traffic.

The fundamental flaw (design) of the fediverse is that servers only see a subset of content.

Along came TagPush. Not rocket science by any means, by my one man attempt to automatically hoover up content from the fediverse, based on a tag. If you follow the TagpPush account for the tag you will then get the content pushed to you.

The tech behind it is simple. A #GoToSocial server manages the Fediverse comms for follows, boosts, etc. I have a python app doing the donkey work around the fediverse looking for content based on tags. It then boosts those out every 5 minutes or so.

Here we are, 185 days in, scooping up content for 48 hashtags and pushing them out to a total of 1,195 followers for tags. Amounting to 298,375 pushed posts (at the time of writing this). That's well in excess of quarter of a million posts. Wow!

Not bad for a simple idea.

@haubles Thanks! But the "advanced" is not it. I don't mind having one thing at a time on screen. That's actually what I prefer.

I'm talking about having influence over different Feeds here, like multiple Home feeds, tailored for different interests. Like 1 Feed for Physics, 1 for FOSS and 1 for dogs!
Maybe the feature "Feeds" is a more accurate term. In "Feeds" one could merge selected Lists with selected followed #hashtags and enabling/disabling boosts

There are people who grasp this at the level of technical detail but I’m not one. My low tech grasp is that it’s an archipelago: your post can cross a bridge to other instances yours is connected to, and onwards from there. #hashtags do the work of your post getting about and being seen, which essentially pulls it over a bridge.

So from a different instance, I browsed the #forkiverse hashtag and here we are. People following me will see my post and might check to see who I’m replying to. If they can see your post (if there’s a bridge they can cross) they can see what else you’ve written unless it was just to your followers.

@Bristleconepine what I've found is that you also have to follow #hashtags for your interests in order to see more content from across the #fediverse beyond users you already follow
