So I've got my #Mikrotik cAP ax mounted and the #UniFi equipment removed from my #Homelab successfully. I've also integrated it into #HomeAssistant just because with it's own user and group using the api. So far so good and yes there are a lot of settings in the MikroTik and it takes some understanding but I got there in the end. Even upgraded it and made backups. 😁
This might be of interest to the #Homelab #Selfhosted #selfhosting crowd: #ubiquity seem to be supplying the Russian military with communications equipment, and helping with sanctions evasion. They know about it and don’t prevent it. https://hntrbrk.com/ubiquiti/
That settles the question of whether I want to redo my home network with that vendor 🤷♂️.

A cluster-wide snapshot overview and cleanup for all guests in a #Proxmox cluster!
Makes it easy to spot old snapshots at a glance and clean them up before they cause trouble.
My PR was just merged, bringing my #ProxSnap idea into the #PegaProx project.
Really happy to contribute and see this feature become part of such a great tool. Nico, Marcus and Laura are doing great there!

The Problem with Cryptpad is Storage one of its main features.... (needed for collaborative Data Editing)
Hosting it on the VPS is a no go. I do not have enough Storage and upgrading would be costly.
My second Idea was to Use my Storage Server and route it through. While I would have the Storage I can't without mistrusting myself provide a Service where I store peoples Data. I don't have opportunity for offsite Backups so if my Appartment burns down i would take the Data with me.
That is fine with something like a Minecraft Server since that file just goes reguraly on A Storage Server since it is max 20GB. But Cryptpad would most likely use more. I mean 5 Users with each 5GB would fill that up and 5GB is not much.
So what options do I have
It would be "Use it on your Own Risk"
Sure though this seems like a cheap exit and I wanna also Provide Quality. After all I am a Sysadmin and I want to use this as an learning Opportunity and give People sth useable and reliable.
Use an Object Storage Provider After all Cryptpad is using modern Encryption
In my opinion the best option. Though here would the Price be factor
The VPS is coming from my Pocket, the Object Storage (for Mastodon) is coming from my Pocket and as much as I would love to just offer this Service with the Money I have, I can't....
Set the Limits for the Storage as Harsh as needed
Sure 10 User and an 2GB Storage for anyone. Great Service Plus I would be unable to Host any other Services on the VPS nor could I add new Users.
Easy Solution: Charge Money for it if someone wants to use it
- First of all, I am not good at charging money (personal morals) and I kinda wanna keep it Free cause the point is to Provide to people what i can.
- Second of all, the standard i would want to provide for an Paid Service i Host
- Lastly this would not Scale well or rather scale down well. Lets say someone cant pay or pays late. I cant just delete the Data. All in all it makes it inferrior to any Paid Service (Service wise, I would not collect any Data nor would I be able to since Cryptpad is E2E)
Do your own Backup
Plays into the Use at your own Risk. Yeah idk i guess it is the same
Donation Based
I doubt anyone would Pay. I mean look at the Economy. Plus it would probably be to inconsistent and at some point i might pay indefinetly and then have to shut it down? Delete the Data?
Then just dont do it idk how to help.
Alright and then? Just sit around?
Then i rather go with "Use at your own Risk"
I ll put the Poll in a Comment below
Again boosts are welcome

What kind of these Services would you be most interested in (to use)?
And if you have any other Services fee free to comment then :3

I put together a hands-on guide to deploying an OpenCTI OSINT stack for cybersecurity research — focused on why you’d architect it certain ways, not just copy-paste YAML.
If you’re a student, homelabber, or security practitioner who wants real CTI experience instead of theory, this one’s for you.
