I'm cheating today by posting a copy of a print by a much better photographer than me. Last week, I went to see an exhibition of Lee Miller's work, in London. This shot is called 'The Eyes of Sibiu', and was taken in Romania in 1946. Miller saw it as a commentary on the surveillance state, and it seems to have some contemporary relevance...

Question: I want more (fiber)arts and beauty in my timeline as a counterweight to all the sad and bad stuff. Currently I follow quite a few hashtags, but not enough. Any recommendations for more?
#knitting #crochet #fiberarts #HandSpinning #Caturday #CatsofMastodon #FensterFreitag #SilentSunday #defaidodon #AuroraBorealis
Most hashtags are pretty obvious, you just put # in front of a topic. For example if a post is about coffee it might have the tag #Coffee
However, many popular hashtags have difficult-to-guess names, so I've started a list to help people discover them:
Copy-paste a hashtag into the search box in Mastodon if you want to browse or follow it.
If you have suggestions for non-obvious hashtags that should be added to the list, let me know in the replies 🙂
@FediTips Ohh, this is super helpful. In the same vein as #introduction, maybe add #welcome? I have seen quite a lot of people *replying* to #introduction posts with a #welcome, makes those replies easier to filter if one wants to.
Also maybe note that #FensterFreitag is for Fridays? (Freitag is German for Friday.)

It was wonderful to run on the frozen Old Danube in Vienna today. I followed all the branches in the lower part. Especially when you are familiar with swimming there, it is an astonishing experience to simply run on the water.

We got an unexpected visitor this evening. (Not as dramatic as it may look: A chunk of the building's facade fell down into the backyard, fire brigade came by to make sure nothing else was in risk of falling down. Too bad it's not #FensterFreitag.)
