Omar Samir Mahmid, a 30-year-old Palestinian actor from Umm al-Fahm, stars in "Ketem Katzabim" (Butcher's Stain), an Oscar-nominated short film about an Arab butcher falsely accused of tearing down hostage posters at his Tel Aviv supermarket job.
Since the nomination, he says he's been dreaming about "standing before an international audience and giving voice to people like me, Palestinians in Israel—I'll talk about the struggles and the violence and the crime invading our lives."
The film reflects what he and other Palestinians experience daily: being the only Arab worker on set, getting suspicious looks just for existing in Tel Aviv, dealing with racism that intensified after October 7th.
Israel's Culture Minister (a bad joke even in Israel fascist context) immediately called the 26-minute film "anti-Israeli" without watching it - which Mahmid says is irresponsible and dangerous, noting "if he had devoted 26 minutes of his time, we could address his criticism."
He dreams of continuing to make independent films: "I love directing. I want to create independent films and find people who can support this vision so I can share these stories at Arab and international festivals. I hope that one day we'll have our own cinema here, with our own productions and supported by our own people." Until then, he's willing to appear in Israeli productions, but "not at any price. It's very important to me to participate in work that reflects our reality and aligns with my principles."

Es ist der Herrschaftsanspruch der USA über die Welt. Donald Trump ist der Führer auf Lebenszeit. Er allein hat die Macht Mitglieder einzuladen und auszuschließen. Damit entsteht erstmals ein globales Ordnungsgremium, das nicht einmal mehr den Anschein multilateraler Legitimation wahrt. Frieden wird nicht verhandelt, sondern gewährt. Teilnahme ist kein Recht, sondern ein Privileg, das jederzeit entzogen werden kann. Das Board folgt nicht dem Prinzip internationaler Gleichheit, sondern der Logik imperialer Loyalität. Wer sich fügt, darf am Tisch sitzen. Wer widerspricht, wird ausgeschlossen.
Das Board of Peace entsteht nicht im luftleeren Raum. Die Handlungsunfähigkeit der UN durch die Existenz von Vetomächten hat erst dafür Raum geschaffen. Zentrale Entscheidungen scheitern regelmäßig an geopolitischen Interessen, insbesondere am Vetorecht der USA und Russland. Dieses System ist nicht reformierbar, weil jede Reform genau an den Mächten scheitert, die von der Blockade profitieren. Das Ergebnis ist ein dauerhaftes Machtvakuum, das Donald Trumps autoritären Gegenentwurf erst ermöglicht hat.
Das Board of Peace fungiert zugleich als ökonomisches Steuerungsgremium, das über Investitionen, Wiederaufbau und Ressourcenzugänge entscheidet. Am Beispiel Gazas wird sich zeigen, dass das Ziel des Boards ist nicht die Konfliktlösung, sondern die kapitalistische Verwertung nach militärischer Gewalt ist.
Die Zusammensetzung der zugesagten Staaten ist auch kein Zufall. Unter ihnen finden sich mehrere muslimisch geprägte Länder, die ein eigenes politisches Interesse daran haben, zumindest formell Einfluss auf die Zukunft Gazas zu nehmen und nicht vollständig ausgeschlossen zu sein. Daneben stehen opportunistische Staaten, für die das Board vor allem eine Chance auf Investitionen, politischen Goodwill oder direkten Zugang zur US-Macht darstellt. Für sie ist das Board weniger ein Friedensprojekt als ein geopolitischer Zugang.
Israel nimmt eine Sonderrolle ein. Das anfängliche Zögern zeigt, dass die Teilnahme ein Eingeständnis ist, den Herrschaftsanspruch über Gaza nicht mehr vollständig allein durchsetzen zu können.
