Who really owns Bluesky?

Not some deliberately misleading two year old press release. Who are the owners of the Bluesky PBC corporation? Is there any debt or warrants? To whom? Where is the money coming from?

Why is this a secret?

Seeing reports of algorithmic amplification and suppression over there. Who has their hands on the knobs?

Blacksky has already built their own ATProto stack that's fully independent from Bluesky.

Now Eurosky is making progress as they roll out their own PDS.

I see more independent infrastructure springing up on https://atp.fyi/network, including AppViews.

For anyone hoping that we'll get another wave of people coming to the fediverse once Bluesky folds/enshittifies, that might not necessarily be the case as people will have more options to stay in the Atmosphere.

In a way, glad my time isn't sucked up in #Bluesky politics, because that would have been time I wouldn't have spent IRL #organising (litterally). More and more grateful to the Fedi every day

Now I am also on #Bluesky thanks to https://fed.brid.gy bridge. Works like a charm, but in order to follow Bluesky accounts from #Mastodon they have to follow @ap.brid.gy first.
Finally I can start following more people from #Erlang, #Elixir and #Gleam community.

Case in point, from a recent AT Protocol developer call:

I have no accounts on Meta & X, or any social media platform driven by a desire to generate profit by stoking controversy and division by spreading ideologies of hate. I only support fediverse platforms, esp Bluesky & Mastodon, for as long as they remain platforms by the people for the people.

Those who still use X are supporting continuation of hate toward minority groups such as trans people by conservatives who would have been prosecuted in the Hague 80yr ago.

Der zweite #did - da muß ich doch … Als #Apple User (Betreutes Wohnen, nennt es mein Sohn) schwer. Aber wenn #Linux auf dem M4 läuft, fange ich an. Beim #iPhone wird das so nicht gehen. Also nach dem OS-Versorgungsende kein iPhone mehr kaufen.

#Twitter war schön. Dann immer nervigere Werbung. Als dann die Timeline nicht mehr auf “Folge” einstellbar war, war Schluß. Auf meinem 1st-Hobby Account nur noch Links in’s #Fediversum. Mein größter SM-Fehler war es, eine Hobby-Gruppe bei #Facebook zu starten. Wie der Zauberlehrling mit den Besen werde ich das nicht mehr los. Aber auch da poste ich oft nur noch Links. Ebenso in meinen anderen SM Hobby Accounts ( #Bluesky, #Threads, … Bei #WSocial Mal sehen)

Für heute habe ich mir #Youtube vor genommen. Hochladen ist #dudit, aber das Ansehen! Das ist richtig fies, die Timeline schafft es immer mal wieder, mich zu fesseln. Am Besten, es gibt keine Grund Youtube zu starten. Und da sind wir bei der Follow-Klocke. Wenn die Videos nun mal sonst nirgends zu sehen sind? Auf dem iPad gibt es auch keine Werbefreimach-App.

Bei meinen Gefolgten sind einige aus den Öffentlichen, die doch gefälligst ihr Material in der Mediathek ablegen sollten. Da fehlt dann wieder die "Folgen-App”. Sollte technisch möglich sein, muß nur mal einer machen |-)
