After three days of cloud & snowfall in the Austrian Alps, of course the sun had to come out on the day I’m leaving to head back to Heidelberg 🙄

Still, had time for a walk between the last lectures & my departure – goodness, it’s stunning out there today ❄️🌞😍

Now on the bus down the Ötztal, then on trains home.

But I really should get to the mountains more often – such a special place 🏔️

Addendum: the attendant danger of all that fresh snow in the Austrian Alps can be seen in the video linked below.

Just north of Obergurgl, on the Stubai glacier, there was an avalanche yesterday that fell across the groomed ski slopes. Apparently eight people were buried, but all rescued within a few hours.
