And not by telling them to paste shit in a Terminal! Or telling them to switch distros. Or guessing because you’re on a different distro and don’t know the answer. Or asking fucking ChatGPT. Contributing noise is of negative value
@danirabbit @Linux_in_a_Bit not gonna defend gate keepers but as someone grow up in freenode #gentoo #arch, RTFM was kind of etched on my mind really early on and I think I became a better computer user thanks to it and not despite of it :)
@danirabbit sadly enough, I personally know of 2 young people that recently switched to Linux and that prefer to ask ChatGPT or Gemini about Linux stuff because "I don't get assaulted with RTFM or judged for my distro of choice"
@alecaddd that fucking sucks and is such an indictment of the state of things
@danirabbit tech elitism in FOSS is one of the worst parts of it
